OUR YOUTH ARCHIVE

As part of Our House, we’re aiming to create a lasting legacy by creating Barking & Dagenham Youth Archive.

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Archive Service (LBBD Archives) aims to collect records relating to the rich and diverse history of the borough and its people; Our House provides an opportunity to initiate the acquisition of collections that represent the voice of young people in Barking and Dagenham.

These records in all their forms will become a permanent addition to the LBBD Archives, and a true reflection of Barking & Dagenham from the perspective of our young people. Records that recount the first-hand experiences of young people are invaluable in improving the representativeness of the archives, fostering community cohesion, and empowering young people.

What’s more, once the Our House Collection is established, we will be able to use it as a catalyst to foster further work/projects with young people in the borough and to hopefully amass more collections of a similar nature.

Are you a young person, or do you work with young people and have something to contribute to the Youth Archive? We want to hear from you!

You can contact using the form below, and we will get on touch about submitting your record/s. Alternatively, pay us a visit at the Local Studies Library at Valence House, or contact us via localstudies@lbbd.gov.uk.
